Born in Long Island, New York, Joseph Novel, Esq. moved with his family to California at a young age and has been a proud resident of Los Angeles ever since. After graduating from Southwestern Law School and being admitted to the California bar, Joseph founded his first law firm, Novel Law. At Novel Law, Joseph dedicated his practice to helping members of the Los Angeles community transfer their hard-earned assets on to their families and loved ones without the need for complicated courtroom proceedings. Joseph was also driven to give back to his community in other ways, including contributing volunteer services to lower-income Los Angeles residents to help them find affordable housing. These efforts resulted in Joseph earning recognition from the California State Bar as a recipient of the Wiley M. Manuel Certificate for pro bono legal service in 2016.
Joseph founded The Legal Reps in 2018. With the founding of The Legal Reps, Joseph expanded his practice to encompass a broader range of legal services, recognizing that his clients need a fierce advocate in the courtroom as well as compassionate counsel outside of it. Since founding The Legal Reps, Joseph has successfully represented clients in a range of probate and personal injury matters in California, in addition to maintaining an active estate planning practice. He has also earned and maintained several financial planning certifications, including completing and passing his Series 6, Series 63 and Series 65 exams, to provide his clients with knowledgeable insurance and investment advice in conjunction with other estate planning services. In partnership with estate planning platform Legacy Shield, Joseph has also given numerous presentations on probate and estate planning topics at conferences throughout the country.
Joseph prides himself on his strong work ethic, his curiosity and drive to educate himself on emerging legal issues, and his commitment to responsiveness, accessibility and personalized client attention. He views himself as a coach and mentor as well as a lawyer, helping to bring peace of mind to clients who may be struggling with the challenges of injury, death and inheritance and reassuring them that they will not have to face those challenges alone.
